Brenda Perlin Visits The Desk - Red Face & Yellow Hair

I'd like to welcome Brenda Perlin to the desk today. She is the author of The Home Wrecker Chronicles. Today, she'll share her most embarrassing moment with us. I couldn't help but to laugh when I read this. I think it's good to laugh at ourselves even if it may take a few years to see the humor in the situation. I can so relate to the moment she shared because I once wound up with purple hair before an out of state trip.

Read Brenda's hair story below.

What is the most embarrassing moment of your life?

The most embarrassing moment in my life has to be the time I dyed my dark brown hair to blond. I have always liked the idea of having sun-kissed streaks in my hair but never imagined I would go to such extremes. For one thing, it wasn’t a Marilyn Monroe or Bo Derrick blond. My entire head turned one flat color: yellow! This dye job left me with the worst shade of blond I had ever seen. It was not a color you would even find in real life. I looked like a cartoon character from the comic strip the Archie's. The embarrassing part was not being able to change my hair color back to brown for one full week. Since my tresses had gone through so many damaging chemicals I was advised to wait and give my hair a break. Of course, that week was my high school reunion of which I so wanted to look my best. Instead, I made myself appear like a bad street hooker. This was just one of many bad decisions I have made. That is so typical of something I might do. I am notorious for making trouble for myself when I would have been better off leaving things well enough alone. The thing is, I never seem to learn from my mistakes and I am a creature of habit. Some people look for problems and I guess I am guilty of doing that.

I never again attempted to dye my hair blond since. That is one lesson I can say I have learned from. The only person who complimented me on my new appearance was my dad. He always told me I was beautiful even when I did not look so great. Thank goodness for family and friends. In life with so many options and choices to make, we need all the cheerleaders we can get.

Isn't this a great cover?

Brenda Perlin Bio:

I live in Orange County, California. I have spent most of my working life in the physical fitness arena. I love the gratification that comes with helping people achieve their fitness goals and I love the fulfillment that comes with having a healthy body.

I moved from the Los Angeles area where I was raised to Orange County in the Spring of 2005. During that time I was a housewife with a couple of dogs. Now I am not. Instead I am writing my adventures for all to read.

  3. Cool! I used to dye my hair many colours, so this could have happened to me, easily. Once, my parents walked past me at the station! :)
