About the book:
A wheelbarrow, a cable drum, gardening tools, and a pickaxe are unusual items on a wedding registry. They are what Mac and Siggy, a German professional couple, need to fulfill their dream of organic gardening. When Chernobyl blows up a few years later, they are scared enough to undertake fundamental changes in the lives of their young family to seek a simpler and healthier lifestyle in an unspoiled country.

They buy a farm in Tipperary, Ireland. They give up their jobs, friends and home to raise their children in an unpolluted environment. Although Siggy shares her husband’s environmental convictions, she would prefer a warmer climate, maybe an olive farm in Tuscany.

A period of intense learning and acquiring new skills follows: how to raise chickens, pluck geese, breed cattle and sheep, and how to grow all kinds of vegetables. Soon they find out that farming means a never ending workload. They almost kill themselves ─and each other─ to produce healthy food.
I Once Had a Farm in Ireland not only gives advice for budding organic gardeners but it is also the story of a woman who sacrifices her own ideals for the sake of her family until she discovers her own dreams.

Synopsis
A Cowboy and his Duty
Jason McGregor was a country boy raised on a horse ranch. His daddy taught him the meaning of family responsibility but that didn't teach him anything about the rules of love. In Jason's eyes it was all about the horses and keeping the McGregor Ranch going. When Haley Sheridan came to visit, Jason's world gets turned upside down. He could no longer see black and white anymore.
Haley Sheridan was far from home and lost without her father. Her emotions were all over the place. She only came to Montana out of duty to her mother. She didn’t understand how Mrs. McGregor took care of all the house hold chores from cooking, cleaning, and making sure her husband and sons were taken care. But when she looked at Jason there was something in his eyes that made her want to understand.
Could a cowboy love a city slicker? Or a city slicker love a cowboy? Neither one knew how to communicate what they really wanted. Come follow Jason and Haley in Book 1 of The McGregor Saga. See how two hearts can become one with enough faith.

Alisha Guenzel's first installment in The McGregor Saga is a delightfully sweet love story.

Though the story is centered around Haley and Jason's relationship, it's also a family love story - with all that entails. The reader is able to experience the couple's growth, both, individually and as a twosome. Haley learns that being part of a family whose lives are devoted to each other, brings its own challenges and rewards.

I'm particularly fond of family sagas and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Seven Things

My publisher, Kim Mutch Emerson, (Master Koda Select Publishing), challenged us
to write seven things nobody knew about us as writers. Here are my seven.

  1. The same string of numbers appears in every book I write. They are an alarm code, a license number and so on.
  2. Every book includes the name of someone that has touched my life in some way. Good and not so good. No, I won’t say which ones. I’ll leave it to your imagination.
  3. When a word doesn’t come quick enough, I will type, “SOME WORD I CAN’T THINK OF GOES HERE”, in bright, bolded red CAPS. Doing so allows me to move on with the story. It also makes it easier to spot when I go back to edit.
  4. There are times when I type an entire paragraph of nonsensical text, (the ridiculous brown squirrel typed silly words over and over because her brain was turning to mush…), until what I need to write comes to me. Of course, that is also typed in red CAPS for later removal.
  5. While editing, I’ve been known (by my cats and poodle) to rant at my publisher and editor in a very loud voice. Afterwards, I follow instructions like a good author and thank them whole-heartedly for their brilliance. Hmm, I think I’ve just outed myself… Love y’all!
  6. I have a small fountain sitting on my desk. I listen to the water trickle over the stones when I write.
  7. I believe, as in real life, not all stories will have happy endings.

Those are my seven things. Feel free to share yours in the comments. I’d love to get a peek.
